David Jang is a versatile artist who uses a variegated lexicon in his production.
The principles in his artistic production are based on the transformation of reality through the passage of time, but also on the accumulation and repetition of the movement of the object in space as well as the interference of light on the object, which leads him towards a new genre of kineticism.
Jang interprets the artistic fact as a science applied or lent to art: he investigates the scientific fact and makes it rise to an artistic level through light, color and material that intersect each other in a sort of stupefied epiphany of visual perception. Emotion and disclosure are the milestones of his artistic production together with the visual perception of light that interacts with the object.
The repetitiveness of the movement of his “chromatic / luminous mechanisms” creates an almost hypnotic state in the viewer due to the discovery of new ways of perceiving the object while waiting for what will happen next.
Jang also introduces the theme of transformation of the objects as his works are composed of waste materials that he recycles through the physical/chemical transformation of them, providing the same material with a new life.
So the theme of Time as a possibility of transformation and as a transformation in itself of both human beings and objects, is the other theme of the artist’s investigation.
Replication, transformation, synchronism and movement are the milestones of a grammar that aims straight at overcoming the dichotomy between life / death by engaging with the viewer a playful relationship of perceptive play; Jang invites the viewer to play with his works to experience with him new possibilities of perception and other ways of seeing the world of things.
A total immersive experience of variable perception or dilated perception that allows us to see the same object we use in our daily life from another perspective and with another function.
The exhibition will be opened on August 19th, 2021 from 5 to 7PM
